Vita means life. Life is precious, even when it gets difficult or complicated sometimes. I'm here to help you better understand yourself and your circumstances, and be an emotional support in times of need. I also believe that everyone has the ability to change given the right circumstances.
I chose to name my counselling services after my aunt, who once said, “everybody should have some counselling, at least once in their life”. She was 'full of life' and loved and cared for others unconditionally. She enabled me to train in this profession so that I can now offer my help and support to you.
My name is Kathrin Skillings and I am the founder of vita counselling services. I was in the process of establishing my own practice when COVID-19 ‘hit’, which means that I am now offering online and telephone counselling for the time-being. My usual way of working is face-to-face and one-to-one.
My work background comprises of retail, charity, office, and local government, yet I have been interested in counselling ever since my teenage years. Now I can offer my services as a qualified counsellor to you, thanks to my late aunt who made the training for it possible.
I believe life is precious, but sometimes it gets complicated and it might help you to know that there’s someone out there who is willing to listen, to help you better understand your situation and to give you a space to ‘just be’.
I have my own counselling as well as supervision to keep me working safely, ethically, and in your best interests. I work confidentially and adhere to the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)’s ethical framework.
